Capital Workforce Partners was established under the Federal Workforce Investment Act and coordinates comprehensive
programs provided through
contracted private and public

partners and service providers.

These programs are critical in developing a skilled, educated and vital workforce. Led by a consortium of the region’s chief elected officials, and representatives from business, education, labor and public groups serving on its Board of Directors Capital Workforce Partners is an essential “Partner” for economic development in the region.

The Summer Youth Employment

We already have a significant overflow of applications, so no more will be accepted for consideration after May 31.  North Central CT residents who are enrolled in school, and are interested in a summer job, can still apply here.

Urban League wins 2013 Skills Challenge

May 8, 2013 - Put Your Skills to the Test - Career Connections students and invited guests, Pathways to Technology, participated in the work readiness Career Competencies based competition, Skills Challenge.

This year's events included: Resume/Cover Letter & Personal Interview, Extemporaneous Speaking, Personal Qualities, Poetry, Career Connections Jeopardy, and a Dress for Success Fashion Show.

The event, sponsored by Aetna, took place in the Aetna Conference Center.

Congratulations to Urban League of Greater Hartford for being the overall winners of the 2013 Skills Challenge!

2013 Career Connections Job Fair

April 10, 2013 - Career Connections Job Fair-Students from the year-round Career Connections Program, and other special invited guests participated in a career fair for summer jobs. Over 20 different employers participated including Aetna,  The Walker Group, UCONN Health Center and ShopRite East Hartford/Manchester. The employers set up booths to collect resumes from eager student job candidates.

New Britain Manufacturing Announcement

May 1, 2013 - New Training Funds for New Britain Manufacturers - New Britain Mayor Timothy O'Brien (right)  a long with CWP Tom Phillips (left) announced a citywide manufacturing training initiative at OKAY Industries that morning. April 30, 2013 - Bloomfield Business Services - Capital Workforce Partners'  and CTWorks staff met  with members of the Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce to discuss resources at their disposal to help them train, hire, and grow their workforce.

Legislators toured the CTWorks One-Stop Center and discussed all of the services available to businesses and job seekers.

April 3, 2013 - Goodwin College's Vital Voices in Entrepreneurship - CWP Board Member, Sheldon Bustow chats with Restauranteur Billy Grant, the featured speaker at this Forum attended by several hundred. CWP's Julie Watson introduced the keynote speaker along with the interviewer for the evening, Rachel Lutzker.
