NOW IS THE TIME TO PLAN TO HIRE A YOUTH FOR
THE SUMMER OF 2013

As we begin recruiting worksites, for over 2,000 14 - 19 year olds this summer, here are a few reasons you might consider hiring tomorrow's future leaders today:

  1. Qualified Entry-Level Workers: That's what you'll get - these youth will have career competency training and should be ready to work, from day one.
  2. Increase Productivity - these students are ready to take on real responsibilities and engage in productive work for the employer.
  3. Positive Public Image: Playing a role in a local or regional school-to-career partnership can provide an important public relations benefits.
  4. Fulfillment of Civic Responsibility: Engaging in school-to-career partnerships provides a way for the employer to be a good citizen “employer” in the community in which the business is located.
  5. Employee Involvement - Helping students build their career paths is rewarding.
  6. MOST IMPORTANT - ECONOMIC COMPETITIVENESS - today's youth are your business's future consumers.  Give them a job this summer and learn FROM THEM today, while you are giving them the skills they will need to lead our businesses tomorrow.

Businesses who are taking advantage of opportinities with youth this summer:

Aetna, Blum Shapiro, Hartford Healthcare, Day Pitney, Halloran & Sage, Viva Hartford Media,

UCONN School of Social Work, The Walker Group, UPS, UCONN Health Center, Webster Bank
