June 8, 2006 - The 2nd Annual Workforce Stars Recognition and Celebration was jam-packed at the HiltonHartford with leaders in our workforce system. Being recognized were adults and youths who improved their position in the workforce as a result of the programs and systems in place to help them. Also recognized were businesses, One-Stop Employees, and legislators for their tireless commitment to the region's workforce. Receiving the first award was: Mayor Eddie Perez of Hartford, noted particularly for all he is doing to support summer youth employment programs. Also, legislators receiving awards were: Representative Marie L. Kirkley-Bey of Hartford and Senator Donald DeFronzo of New Britain. This is the first year that One-Stop Employees were selected in memory of a true workforce champion - Belinda Price - who was known for her commitment to our workforce and to the people of the region, and who passed away at an early age in 2004. Receiving the Belinda Price Memorial One-Stop Career Center Awards were: Brenda Martinez of CareerTEAM, and Deanna Mancino of CREC. Other award recipients included:
