Research Associate – Temporary Assignment, Construction Projects and Employment

POSITION SUMMARY: Identifies construction projects and job opportunities in the North Central Region of CT. Analyzes findings and writes reports to submit to Capital Workforce Partners and the Jobs Funnel Steering Committee.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Identifies current and future construction projects planned in the next 2 -5 years within the North Central Region of CT.
2. Conducts research on types of projects, size of project, and total cost of project, funding sources, project schedule and number of jobs created.  If project is currently or will be underway, identify owner, construction manager and/or general contractor. 
3.  Analyzes data collected; determine project segments and create a matrix of potential job opportunities.
5. Write, edit and analyze information into a clear and precise report for presentation to management by 9/15/2010.
6. Perform data analysis and data queries to provide ad hoc reports during project.
7. Maintain highest standards of professionalism and customer service in all interactions within and between staff and partner agencies.
8. Perform other duties as required to meet the needs of Capital Workforce Partners.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Academic degree or experience in writing, research, or related field.

• Strong writing skills
• Ability to work well in a team and independently without direct supervision.
• Ability to use on-line information databases, tools and resources.
• Ability to communicate information clearly and work cooperatively with others.
• Proficiency in conducting research and interviewing with those from whom information is sought.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Part-time, temporary 30-hour per week position through September 30, 2010.

Some travel in CT required.
